Getting to Cagliari

By Air

The airport is easily accessible from downtown: all trains heading to Cagliari Central Station (Piazza Matteotti) stop at the airport station. Taxis and car rentals—with or without a driver—are also available.

Territorial continuity regulations

If you travel from Rome or Milan, you can benefit from discounted rates under territorial continuity, an Italian and EU policy designed to ensure equal access to transport services for all citizens, especially in disadvantaged or remote areas like islands.

During the IATA Winter season (last Sunday in October to last Saturday in March), non-residents traveling to/from Cagliari for verified work reasons can access reduced fares, when flying to/from Rome FCO and to/from Milan (LIN).

Important: To get the  rate you need to inform the travel agency before they issue your ticket and bring with you a copy of the registration to the EPOS Days or the invitation to attend: the personnel at boarding could ask you to demonstrate you're traveling for work reasons and you can be asked to pay the full amount of the ticket if unable to do so.

The Port of Cagliari is centrally located, facing the iconic Via Roma.

It offers daily ferry connections to Rome-Civitavecchia, Naples, and Palermo, and serves as a docking point for various Mediterranean cruises. The port is also linked to the city and surrounding areas by train and local/regional bus services.

Getting Around the City

Cagliari has an efficient public transportation network including metro, local, and extra-urban buses. Taxis are readily available, and car rentals can be arranged both in the city center and at the airport.
