DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe EPOS Summer School 2026 will focus on geoscience
research data and their practical applications. The programme offers a co
mprehensive exploration of Research Data Management in the context of geos
ciences\, starting with foundational concepts and progressing to essential
yet often challenging topics such as legislation\, licensing\, and persis
tent identifiers.\n\nA key highlight will be using and processing multidis
ciplinary data\, particularly within the EPOS Platform. Participants will
learn to design workflows for managing and sharing data in an open-science
environment\, including data discovery\, processing\, and leveraging Jupy
ter Notebook technology.\n\nWith a pragmatic approach\, the EPOS Summer Sc
hool aims to equip participants with actionable knowledge and skills they
can immediately apply to their research. Ample space in the programme is d
edicated to hands-on sessions and group work\, allowing participants to te
st their skills using real-world use cases\, including a selection of thos
e presented by themselves.\n\nThe programme also provides space for reflec
tion and group discussions\, addressing challenges and benefits of open sc
ience and FAIR data and demystifying common misconceptions. Recognizing th
e diverse backgrounds and ICT proficiency of participants as an added valu
e for the EPOS Summer School\, groups will be thoughtfully organized to co
mbine complementary skills\, fostering collaboration and enhancing real-wo
rld teamwork capabilities.\n\nWho should apply?\n\nThe EPOS Summer School
is an intensive programme designed for PhD students and candidates\, po
stdocs and Early Career Scientists from different geoscience domains and
communities\, whose daily research work builds upon multidisciplinary da
ta.\n\nEPOS is firmly dedicated to advancing diversity\, equality and incl
usion in every training opportunity we offer. We invite registrations from
individuals of diverse ethnicities\, cultural and religious backgrounds\,
genders\, sexual orientations\, and at all stages of their careers.\n\n\n
The EPOS Summer School 2026 is organised in the framework of the EPOS ON
Project\, funded in the Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement 10
